Being in Scotland I sometimes get requests for recommendations for MERCEDES specialists in the Aberdeen area or further North. I am slightly out of touch now about this so if anyone has any suggestions / recommendations it would be good to know of your experiences. There are already several threads on Specialists in the GLASGOW/EDINBURGH area its really for the benefit of forum members further North.:dk:

Because there is not any really.

Aberdeen has that place on George street (Bavaria Autowerke) but its not a million miles off the main dealer, John R Weir in W.Tullos.

IIRC Morrison motors in Turriff sell on a lot of high end motor cars, and they do servicing.

However, thats a good hour further North of Aberdeen but it may be worth a look, as well as its a reasonably pleasant drive out that way.

I've never dealt with either company, but do know a lot of people in Aberdeen and the area well.

Hi Steve, thanks for your post. I can recommend Morrison motors on the retail side with lots of satisfied "high end " customers. I expect their servicing to be of the same high standard. My only experience of Bavaria Autowerke was they grossly overcharged me for a distributor rotor arm for my 190E many years ago. Needless to say I have never been back! Its possible they may be under new ownership now I have no idea. :dk:

I've a friend with a BMW in Aberdeen and a VW Golf, both of which said the prices were not a million miles off dealer prices and felt the main dealer would be the wiser bet for their cars.

There is a good mechanic of the name Andy Duncan in Ythanbank (nr Ellon), but I don't have any details but my friend (who I haven't spoken too in ages) had his car laterly looked after there.

I'd probably given Morrison motors a shot, but I don't live near Aberdeen although visit from time to time and with the wealth of specialists down here, I'd get the car looked at here. We don't have many members from up there, and I have no knowledge of Morrison motors other than I saw a car I liked there once.

Thats not particularly helpful if you live in the North of Scotland as fuel/hotels etc if needed would stack up to more than taking the car to John R Weir, and don't they know it.

Looking at prices for cars up there, they are very expensive compared to cars elsewhere, because they are really miles from anywhere.

Ask for a mercedes taxi driver,
they know where the best independents are.

Thought SKODA [ Octavia or Superb]was the manufacturer of choice for taxi drivers now?

Well I've not come across any Indies yet in the Aberdeen/Aberdeenhire area.

Bavaria Autowerke don't seem to have a good reputation from what I've heard.

I'm stuck using Arnold Clarke Mercedes and they do get their finger out but you have to be constantly on the 'phone pushing them. Not what you really expect and I've had a couple of conversations with Mercedes UK about their poor customer service.

On the other hand, when we had both left and right rear air suspension bellows fail they were top notch in dealing with Warranty Direct.

Check in on the BW W220 forum, the moderator over there has a shop in the north of Scotland and seems to know his stuff pretty well.

It may sound like Sacrilege but Aberdeen Volks Centre at Kingswells look after the oily bits my older alfas very well, also they let you know when you'd be better going elsewhere for stuff (usually electrical trim and cosmetic). I take my 1996 E280 Wagon there.

Sandemans cars Forfar, only problem he is very busy because he is good, full star diagnostics and advertises in local paper he does VW, Audi etc too.

I have used him in past and pleased with work, cheaper than MB and he uses MB parts too,

Take a bonio for daisy the dog, if you visit :)

dont know any merc specialist up here. MB Aberdeen are a bunch of sharks too. Had to go to MB Edinburgh for my service.

agree with morrison motors in Turriff but also found MB Inverness good
