Hi guys,
Does anyone have any recommendations for any good indies in the North Leeds or Harrogate area?
Don't need one yet, but want a good adaptable place that know their stuff, ideally I need a Leeds version of blackc55.

Used a harrogate based indie a couple of times but not 100% happy. I live in harrogate area ( hence harrogate connection) but work in North Leeds so Leeds based Indy would work well.

Anyone got any good recommendations? For any future work.

Thanks

I've tried German Car Care in Pudsey. Seemed to be competitive but what really ****** me off with them was my car was in for spark plug service and they advised my rocker cover gaskets need doing on collecting the car.

They could have called me whilst they had the covers off for the spark plug service and I would have authorised them to complete this too.

The best advice I've had is from

Welcome | Elite Independent

Cheers everybody,
Still a little unsure. I like the look of elite but a bit too far out for me (to be convenient).

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about German Car Care in Pudsey, which put me off a bit.

Scotts looks like it may be worth a try, was hoping for some first hand recommendations, but I guess not too many people on here from the Leeds/Harrogate area.

Web search throws up quite a few claiming to be Mercedes specialist in the area, but not sure what to believe. As I say have used a recommended indie but not 100% impressed so far.

Thanks again.

Hi Jane270ML,
thanks for that, sounds like you are in my area, maybe you can fix my car instead :D.

I live in Knaresborough and work in Leeds hence ideally looking for Leeds as its a bit easier for me.
I have used Tony too.

Thanks again

I just had a major service done at Scotts Autotec last week.
I usually service my cars myself as I do not trust most garages with my cars. However with the CLS I am keen to keep up the service history and I was wanting the car to be thoroughly checked over by an expert as I am fairly new on the Mercedes scene.
Anyway I was very pleased with Scotts, It was a reasonable price for all the work I had done and they gave me a good report on the car and advice on a few things that require attending to. They gave me the impression that they were thorough in their work and that they know exactly what they are talking about.
I will be taking my car back there at MOT time anyway.

Good evening. Just seen your post and can recommend Scotts Auto based in Leeds. Melvin (Scott) will give you an honest opinion and has a good team working for him. Used him a few times for my E270CDI and was pleased with the service.

MB Tech Warrington

Bad experience! I had a leaking injector, they repaired and said I needed a new injector as one of them was over injecting, although I never had any misfire issues previously. I picked my car up earlier than they said it would be ready thinking the job was complete, they advised prior to picking up they needed to balance the injectors. On pick up they advised all was done. I later found I had a misfire issue, revisited Mbtech and the balanced the injectors, then they tried to charge me for the unfinished work previously in for. We negotiated and they agreed not to charge. The car drove perfect after that. A month latter I had additional work booked in, a new rocker cover and upon picking the car up they advised they had rebalanced the injectors for free, trouble was the problem was back, plus I noticed other issues..... In the end I have come to the conclusion if these guys service your injectors and you pay for the priveladge surely the job should be spot on! I don't like going back to you to resolve the issues you should of got corrected in the first place, and especially Mbtech trying to charge to correct. I was suppost to take it back to them today, but instead I'd rather go to another garage instead. I have 5 friends who have Mercedes in the warrington area and they have had similar experiences and all advised to use another mb
Specialist.

I have the impression if they feel they can milk you, your car will have issue after unfortunate issue every time you go in for a repair. My issues have been simply repaired today for £25 the new recommended garage advised the injector settings had been thrown out of sink, not explanation why other than they had been set that way. In other words Mbtech reversed the free work on the second visit that they should of got correct on the first visit. All because they wanted extra cash.

No point in joining just to slag off someone you don't agree with. You feel you've had a bad experience - sort it out with the garage rather than trying to bad mouth them here.

I was directed to this link by one of our customers.

Jonathan, I'm sorry to hear you feel you have to come on here and write this.

You phoned last week to say it was running rough, we said to bring it in anytime convenient with yourself and we would take a look, you then didnt show on the Friday. We did wonder why. Then I was directed to this, after checking dates etc and realising it was yourself, we are quite surprised.

You came to us on the 16th May 2015, the booking in the diary shows "injector blow, rough running".

We diagnosed a faulty injector, water pump and v belt also required, all common issues on the 646 engine. We also found the oil seperator on the rocker cover, leaking and drawing in unmetered air, which would not help running matters.

You authorised us to do the injector, water pump & v belt. Leaving the rocker cover at this stage, as you couldnt afford it at that moment in time. We explained to you then why it was important that the rocker cover was remedied.

We have found that when the injectors over inject, the weakest link to go is the injector seal. And our findings over our many years working on this engine type, is that when you reseal the injector, it can highlight the injector over injecting when it shouldnt. You did book in for rough running too, as per the booking.

So we replaced the injector which was massively out of tolerance, only after trying to calibrate the quantity corrections first, which obviously failed.

We then coded the injector and set about the quantity correction factors.

Fast forward to 5th Sepetmber 2015, and you book in for the rocker cover. We replace the rocker cover, whilst doing so we notice slight signs of blow on the other injectors, nothing masjor. But as part of rocker cover job, we clean the injectors, fitting new washers and stretch bolts. We then again carry out injector calibrations because factors have now changed, there is no longer any unmetered air entering. I think this is where you question why we are doing this now, and questioned price with Will. We came to an agreement and didnt charge anything for injector calibration at this point.

May I point out, that the requirements of calibration etc where required due to all 4 injectors now being completely sealed, and unmetered air no longer entering via the breather system.

Fast forward again to 2 weeks ago, approx 5th Nov, and you called and spoke to one of my lads, stating it was running rough again. I instructed him to tell you to bring it in when was good with yourself, at no point was any charge discussed or even thought of. And we would not have charged you a penny, if it was just a case of injector recalibration. You then didnt show on the Friday 6th. Then I was pointed to this thread yesterday.

I'm sorry you feel you needed to post this, but the claims that we undid work to then try to charge are quite absurd, and we take offence to that.
If the correction factors were out, and as you put "reversed" by us, then the car would not have run right from pick up on the 5th September, and I'm sure you would have returned the car the next day, as anyone would expect. But it was 2 months after, 5th Nov that you called to say it had started running rough again.

None of your issues are down to our workmanship, or any job we have undertaken. And I'm sorry to hear you had more issues.

We as a business strive to first & foremost to do the job right, we try to bend over backwards for customers, forget the implications of the modern internet era where people can post negatives on forums, but the moral standing and our integrity as a business take over. Basically we treat every customer as we would like to be treated.

We are transparent as a business and we have approx 12-20 cars through our doors everyday, and take pride in the fact that many of our customers we now class as friends.

We also understand that you cannot please everyone, and I will try to analyse the reasons why you are unhappy to better our business.

I would like to offer the oppurtunity for you to return to us and come in and have a chat with myself, we would like to rectify and repair relations with you. We dont want to lose customers or see people go away unhappy, and I apologise again if you feel this way.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Shane
