Indium Grey

Pearlescent is metallic and is exactly how you're describing it, not sure what you're thinking off.

Pearlescent has teeny weeny glass beads added to the paint, this caused weird light refraction hence you get a multicoloured paint effect (depending on which angle you view it from). Metallic has teeny weeny bits of reflective "stuff" added to the paint, hence light bounces off the relective surface.

...but, ignoring the technicalities, my car is often next to my wife's pearlescent (Diamond White) and the effects are clearly very different.

It changes colour a lot....

Says the man in a red car!! ;)

Oh, looking closer is that an MX-5?
Sorry, should have said...

Says the girl in the red car!! ;)

Need to be a petrol head to recognise a Honda S2000, for nearly 10 years the highest output per litre of any NA car until the Ferrari 458.......and revved to 9000rpm.

Funny I've replaced it with another "hairdressers" car a SLK with a lazy 421hp from a 5.5 litre V8. But still love Honda S2000's and sliver CLS's.....each to their own as they say!

RR

What have you had done to the SLK to get 420bhp out of it ?

The new SLK 55's are 421bhp as standard Howard.

Bought the new R172 SLK55AMG they added around 60hp with the new engine, and dropped the emissions to under 200g/km for nice cheap road tax, nice men these AMG engine builders...........

RR

Just googled it , wow , i didn't know that !! thought they were still 360 odd .

I was wondering if RR's was supercharged or something , had no idea that they were so powerful as standard !

That's different but agree confusing, normal pearl finishes look exactly the same as metallics when you look up close, oddly enough because they have the metallic flakes as a base, they just have subtle colour changes depending on the light. I know the sort you're talking about which are just a bit wierd.
