Afternoon

Im totally new to Mercedes, and have just bought a CLK 230. I have come to a issues where the top bracket where the front spring sits has rusted, bent up and snapped off.

I was wondering what the part below in the picture is called?

Also has any one had to replace one of these before?

Thanks in advance !

Its called a spring perch and yes they have been known to come adrift and need re-welding.

Thanks for the amazingly quick reply.

I has actually rusted and totally shattered and fallen apart, so will need a new spring perch.

Im guessing you will be able to get one and weld it on?

If so any ideas or website i could find one or the part number?

Cheers

James

Members of the Official Mercedes-Benz Owners Club get access to the factory EPC (electronic parts catalogue) included. That tool allows you to see the exact build spec of your car (based off the VIN) and all part numbers online.

It is just about possible to get some of the same information from a Russian club website. http://mb.ilcats.ru/1/ccode/1

I can help you navigate it if you reveal the first few numbers in your VIN - I think it would be 208447 or 208448

Your local MB dealer will be able to sell you a repair kit if you provide your VIN. Better to get it welded on rather than bolted or riveted.

Suggest you get the other one done as well unless there's evidence its been done already. Basically moisture gets behind the sealant and rots the perch where it's spot welded to the frame/inner wing. The sealant often hides this till it fails.
