Infrared Key from Independent Workshops

Hello Forum,

I'd need another ignition key for each commercial vehicle in the fleet as sometimes keys fail and drivers should get a spare when they are out.

Merc charges some £160 / key!
That's a bad deal as one can get blank (unprogrammed key) for a few quid.

But as far as I know, manufacturers must enable independent businesses to make keys (some EU directive). So keys should be available from somewhere else then main dealers.

Does anyone know of any source? A legal one of course...

Olly, not too helpful if you've got a 98 Sl with old style flip out key. Any ideas for those or are we stuck with Dealership?
