Hi all, I joined a few months back when I was given my dad’s 2010 C220d blueefficiency Estate. He’s got a new car, this car belonged to my brother before he passed in 2017 hence inherited in title.
Story so far…
My Dad has used the same mechanic for 20 odd years. The cars been MOTd every year and not run v hard while he’s had it, he’s retired, but could have been looked after better and has 200k on the clock. In the three months I’ve had it I’ve driven it 250 miles. I noticed straight away that it was down on power. Knowing how my dad drives I figured it would be best to have the engine cleaned, and a full diagnostic done. That confirmed I’ve got a blocked DPF. That’s giving me a warning light on the dash. I can have that taken out and fully cleaned locally for 300/250, that’s ash and all so totally clear.
Answers on a postcard…
The only other mechanical issue I have is a squeaky ns front wheel. I’m thinking it could be the breaks are set wrong somehow but I think it’s more likely to be a bearing. Any experience with this would be appreciated.
Dads dog van..
Has been the primary use for the car. A massive half Great Dane lose in the car for eight years has taken its toll in the interior. I’ve hoovered and cleaned it up a bit but I’ve got a list of replacement parts to pick up.
Updating the pre-facelift…
While looking for bits, as above, I noticed the facelifted W204 dash is a significant update! Can that be put in a pre-facelift? How much of a ball ache is it? How would the clocks work as I see they are a different shape in the facelift?
Also looking to steal the steering wheel and rear lights from a face-lifted model. Will those bolt straight on or is there something I’m not seeing here? Checked the connections and they all look to match but advice would be great if anyone has tried this stuff before.

Been done by a member on here, but it's open heart surgery...... the entire dash needs replacing, including the infotainment system.
