Hi,

I’ve just had my MoT done. The Halfords tester said, “passed with flying colours,,,,, but you might want to consider putting injector cleaner in once in a while. This model is known to get a bit gummy”.

Mine is a late 2007 cdi, with 37800 on the clock.

1/ I was under the impression that we don’t really want to add anything to the fuel too early – at least till it’s ‘run in’.
2/ Is ‘this model’ known to get gummy injectors ?
3/ If it is recommended, what brand/type do you guys suggest ?

Merry Christmas to all

To be honest, it's down to your personal choice.
(1) use a premium grade diesel (not the city diesel) which will keep your injectors clean.
(2) Add Millers oil to your tank
(3) Add 'Forte' Advanced Diesel additive to your tank

I carryout my own oil & filter changes and always fill my new diesel filter with Forte and start the engine so the injectors get a real blast clean then use a premium grade diesel

hope this helps

Thanks Dave.
I always use Shell,,,, sometimes V-Power,,,, cos I know it's got decent cleansing properties,,,, has always been ahead of others in that field.
Most of my family worked fro ESSO,,,, but still used Shell fuels.

I'll look at the items mentioned.

cheers

A local private hire driver used to put the odd gallon of petrol in when brimming his diesel tank to "flush it out" His cars ran for well over 150,000 miles (mostly Peugeots).

Not sure how safe this actually is.......
