I have been doing the injector seals mercedes vito 2.1w639 so the injector number 3 hole striped the treads on tightening so I bought the wurth 6m thread repair kit from eBay from simmerperformace but it didn't work the boring tool would not cut the metal for the timsert to sit flush with the top of the head so I fitted it down in the hole but on torking the bolt up it tightened up then went slack I didn't over tork it this was just with a small ratchet done gently so I'm Screenshot_20200420-151555_eBay.jpgnow thinking of fitting one of these as I have been working on the van now over 2 years so I need it up and running what's anybody's thoughts on fitting this from e bay

Good shout Patrick. The problem is that if he goes with the ebay kit and it goes wrong, he is then in danger of reducing the head to scrap value.

They don't use such kits, well mine doesn't.

I meant if the OP has another go himself with the £9.00 fix of ebay.

Proffesionals that do these repairs use Helicoils these are much better and more permenant.

The head is aluminium , right ? A basic 'Helicoil' type thread insert repair kit would work just fine providing access to drill out is OK.

Or am I missing something :dk:

Yes but, the OP has had one go at it and failed. specialist help required. There is only so much material to work with and the bigger hole gets the bigger the problem.

The thread becomes weak with all the diesel leaking into it fluctuating in temp. I normally use a 8mm helicoil or worse case a time Sert. Then torque to app. 15-20nm little by little.
most importythe thread needs to be 100% clean and lubed a little with copper slip no bolt resistance.

I had this on a w210 e220 cdi years ago. Malcolm at Star Motors gave me a number and the thread doctor came out and spent a couple of hours fitting a heli. Perfect job, cost if I recall was £100 ish.

I am a fan of helicoils but I have read many failure with them if talk eith MB injector threads... Timeserts has proven working much better.
