I'm hoping somebody can tell me if my local service garage contact with access to a star machine with MB software up to 2010 models can possibly switch these bits on so my phone system works on the cluster/steering wheel.
It already works off the head unit and the volume during a call can be altered up/down off the wheel but not the send/end buttons etc.

Not important but as I'm looking around the forum I see people talking about tire pressure warning. Is this system pre-fitted and just needing to be enabled?

Any help appreciated : )
Andy.

I'm afraid the official approach for this car would be via SCN coding for the cluster (VeDoc changed before that). It probably works also via the "Diagnosis to plant specifications" menu (under the cluster menu in DAS), control unit adaptations and variant coding and "Variantenkodierung" and "Telefon". Control unit reset from actuations if needed.

do you anything about the tyre pressure warning question?

Was a factory option Mercedes charged about £60 for but all it requires is to enabled by STAR, there is no additional hardware. It is an indirect system that uses the ABS wheel sensor to detect a pressure loss.

Your phone buttons should work fine if the car has phone pre-wire. Or does it have no pre-wire and you have retrofitted one of the newer NTG2.5 based units with bluetooth built in? As your car is a 2006 your contact should be able to enable them for you.

Edit: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/116790-fiscon-mercedes-pro-bluetooth-slk.html As mentioned on your previous thread the phone buttons need enabling.

These things can be coded by a good independent aswell ;)

Re instrument cluster/steering wheel coding slk R171

Thanks guys for the replys. What happened was a mate in the 'in-car' trade fitted me a fiscon Bluetooth phone kit to my audio 20 unit.we were told it would work off the head unit but guessed a star machine might be needed for the rest to work but as I wanted a near factory job this seemed like the best option with no telephone pre-wire.
My mate told me earlier that he found out if you just enable the iPod option it will switch all the others on and save time etc!
Anybody know if he's been told correctly ?
Regards,Andy.
Ps- I mean clocks and steering wheel not tyre pressure as well :)

If you had the ipod kit fitted you wouldnt need to enable the phone steering controls as it is enabled when enabling the ipod kit, but I dont know if you can enable the ipod function if you dont have an ipod kit installed. Also I think if you enable the ipod function, you lose the aux input option from the headunit.

Lots of if's and maybe's then!
I think what he was told is instead of turning on the display, the steering wheel in individual steps just enable iPod to get them going.
Something to do with opening the ring circuit or something sounding like that?

Don't know it makes anything better or worse but I have the mp3 cd changer in the glovebox so will playing with the settings like the iPod setting stop the changer working?

No, it would not but are you sure the iPod setting is for the 2008 SLK? I know it was there for the W211 at some point (earlier on there was a specific menu at DAS to enable the phone feature).

Experience independent shops would figure it out, no doubt. Are you far away from Alfie?

The steering wheel buttons can be enabled whether there is an ipod kit fitted or not. Cars with option 386 have the buttons enabled anyway.

It is possible to have AUX and ipod concurrently. For one customer we installed a switch for him to toggle between the two. On the newer ipod kits, the option is auto switched. So if there is no ipod connected the AUX still works! Ive tested this on a W203 and it works!

He doesnt have an ipod kit. What he is asking is can he just enable the ipod option via STAR to get the steering controls working with the Fiscon kit instead of finding the specific setting to enable steering controls.

Email sent to Alfie

took my slk200 in to comandonline(Unique @ Lightwater in Surrey) today on advice from my mate who runs mercworld in Nuneaton ... no wiring on mine apparently, so getting a fiscon kit fitted: 500quid which is a bit dear I reckon, but will post back in a few days with what I think of it :)
