Instrument cluster lights dim and the temperature lights

Hope someone can help. The lights on my dash are dim and the temperature lights are very dim. I have tried to turn the knob on the dash but cannot turn it. What do I need to do to get it sorted? Thanksfor any help given.

The manual states to turn button 1 . Each turn and let go increases the brightness, there are 7 levels of brightness.

I'm guessing then it's some kind of potentiometer built into the clocks that would need fixing . Ie a dimmer switch.
