Car
2005 W215 CL500.
My instrument cluster has had a complete failure.
Can I replace the one I have with any other one...or, must the part numbers match?
The problem I have is the label with the part number on has been removed.

Where is the car's mileage stored?

Get the cluster part number from here using your VIN. Online EPC
The mileage is held in the EIS as well.
You will need to find someone who can set the mileage on the "new" cluster to <10 or so before it can be adapted to your vehicle.

By complete failure, has the instrument cluster just gone blank or are you seeing other symptoms too?

you could try these guys:

You can replace them with another used one but you will have to get it coded on star

So, I got a used one on Ebay, £89. Found the blown fuse...and it works. Just need it coded to the car now.
