I have just sent my R107 clock to these guys as it sems to be stuck at 1.30! Its quite a common problem on the older guages..

http://www.jdo1.co.uk/

They can do speedo recalibrations, repair rev counters etc etc...

so may be worth adding to your favorites if you have an older benz...

Let us know how the repair goes, whats the costs, and time scale (no pun intended)

the cost is £25 flat (includes whatever needs to be repaired) and i paid £8.95 for p&p & return special delivery.. plus whatever it costs me to send to him..

its a very very common problem on the 107... the speedo usually packs up too...

Is it easy to remove the instrument cluster?

Is it easy to remove the instrument cluster?

HERE.

The one in my S210 was VERY hard to pull out. Coathangers and other hooks failed to budge it. In the end I used two back door keys to get the thing out, they were the only things rigid enough to exert the required pressure. Be careful with the soft part of the dash when inserting the chosen removal implement.

When replacing a cluster put a little grease where the main contact points are. Next time the removal will be easier.
