Confused.com say that the cars with the highest insurance claim rates are:

* Honda HRV (18.4% of owners claim in a year)
* Volvo XC90 (15.9%)
* Lexus RX (15.5%)
* Mazda 5 (15.3%)

At the other end of the scale, lowest was the Mazda 2 TS TD

* Mazda 2 TS TD (<1%)

Other notable low claim cars, with around 1% claims, include

* Nissan Skyline

Many years ago when the Sierra Cosworth was in its heyday it was said that every single Cosworth RS500 had been the subject of a theft claim, at one time or another.

This and regularly stolen hot hatchbacks, (GTi, XR3i etc) were the catalyst for Thatcham approved security devices.

=Skylines, either older models people can no longer afford to run, newer models are so expensive to fix people daren't drive them

=focus RS, get 5MPG on a good day, weekend only car

=fiat cinquecento, can't get enough speed up to do any damage :D

fiat cinquecento, can't get enough speed up to do any damage -lol

wife used to own a panda.. drove like a lawnmower quipped with deckchair seats and flappy wing mirrors, horrible car... lol

So nearly one in 5 Honda HRV drivers have a claim each year :eek:

Either

1. The rest of the world hates them and people deliberately crash into them
2. They are the worst drivers out there ( if I see one coming I think I'll get ready to take evasive action
3. The parts and labour for repairs are so expensive that every little thing, however minor gets claimed for.
4. The Confused.com stats are deeply flawed
5. Some other reason - anyone with an idea?

All driven by the elderly who are forever bumping into anything that doesn't move ( and quite a bit that does ) ...

Another reason may be that Confused are a price comparison site and the claims history is based on the new car that the person is getting a quote for - not the car that they had at the time of the claim.

(I'm tempted to add 'Simples' - but that is a different comparison site)

School Run V Petrolheads :dk:
p.s. The elderly don't have the money or need to drive VOLVO XC90 or LEXUS RX = families up and gone.
