Insurance seems to be going through the roof again and tbh at the money the car is costing me I am seriously getting to the point where I am struggling to justify keeping it.

The best quote I can get so far is £730

30 yrs old, 8 yrs ncb (it's actually a few more but I can only prove 8 yrs)
No Points
No Claims
12,000 miles a year
Car kept in a secure garage

Last year I paid around £500 and that was about £100 more than the previous year

Any recommendations on who to try with?

Many thanks

Direct line is who I'm with. I'm 31 but with 5 years ncb, everything else the same except I keep my car on the drive and I pay £647.

In fact, I've got my buildings and contents insured with them which also brings the car insurance price down. Maybe worth a look at that as well pal?

OK I am twice your age, but my S Class through Prudential was just under £300.00 and my B class is a little less

Primo multicar... even if it's not the cheapest, the level of service you get is outstanding!

I've bought a few cars, donated one to charity, etc... every time they were more than helpful in getting new certificates out for free and even sent temporary certs when the printed ones wouldn't arrive fast enough.

Try Chris Knott. Broker that usually uses Highway - part of LV. Very good for self and wife but also for 24 year old son with 2.4 litre Volvo. Clean licence, full NCB, agreed value £550 per annum for him. Might be worth a try.

Hi my car is insured with Admiral just over £400 fully comp protected :thumb:

swiftcover was the best for me , i added my girlfriend to the the policy , she has no no-claims as she had a company car for years and 6 points and it still reduced the price by over £100 :)

I always search through moneysupermarket to find the best deals. Insurance companies seem to work in weird and mysterious ways. Basically, when they see their business going down they reduce their prices for a time until their levels of business go back up. Therefore, it's difficult to say who will be the cheapest on a given day. If level of service is important to you then search the forum. Some members seem to have dreadful service from some insurers.

Personally i couldn't give a fig about dreadful service- i just want their cheapest there is (which excludes 99% of insurers and time wasting comparison sites)- although even the cheapest ain't cheap enough- so i can't be picky about customer service

We have NEVER found the comparison sites to be even remotely competitive. Have always found those that deal direct or the specialist brokers much better.

I'm with the IAM Surety scheme. I pay £420, 38 yr old male, 1 SP50 from 4 years ago, max no claims, fully comp protected, car in garage, insured for £30k, with tracker. Business class 2, 20,000 miles PA. This is with Royal Sun Alliance, via the IAM broker.

Best I could find outside of IAM was £850.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, will be shopping around again tonight.

For what it's worth I use comparison websites only to find possible cheapest 'Premium' companies and then go direct myself, there is always cheaper but it isn't necessarily with a company you'd want to go with.

get on to rh insurance based in essex (01277 206911), search them on the net

im 30 with no ncb,
ive got a lowrider yank tank (6.6ltr) and my 4.2ltr v8 s class with them and both come to £129 on there classic policy, you have to be a named driver or have some other car you drive as a daily, im a named driver on my birds fiesta and that keeps them happy, limited milage to 3000 miles a year but even at 10000 a year it was only £200 so still cheap, give them a try as i was paying £600 for my s class before i moved to them

Many thanks for the recommendation - much appreciated!

Couple of things to note, from previous experience:

1. Garage is not always best - I have always had cheaper online quotes by far when keeping it on a street overnight - something to do with the statistics of vandalism and thievery in a garage

2. Admiral is doing really realy cheap deals at the moment, and only moneysupermarket have ever given quotes that actually equal going direct.
