Afternoon all,

I'm looking for insurance providers who will insure me for one day on a specialist driving course held at Millbrook Proving Ground (coming up in July). I've found a couple (Moris and InsureMyTrackDay.com), both prices are wildly different so I wanted to get a couple more for a complete comparison.

If anyone has got experience of specific providers of insurance specifically for Millbrook I would love to know who they are.

Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks,

Simon

Adrian Flux maybe?

I hope you enjoy your day. The alpine route is great fun.

Has your current insurer refused to cover you?

Yeah I thought of them, will need to check. Not sure exactly which parts i'll be using, but I do know i'll be on the Dynamics Pad at some point as i've paid extra for wet handling tuition. Millbrook will be day one of a two day course, with the second day done all on-road putting into practice the skills learned previously.

I'm assuming not - although we all know where assumption gets us! I need to call them, i'm hoping they'll cover me as the single day options i've priced up so far are working out as pretty expensive.

A few weeks ago, I called my insurer (GEICO) and asked if there were any discounts I could qualify for. They suggested taking a defensive driving course and sent me links to two classes. Timewise, it took me about four hours, and it cost $20. The discount was $29 on every six-month policy, for 3 years. As you can see, taking the class pays for itself the very first time, and over the course of the three years, the total savings are $154 (29*6 - 20).

I did a full day course there (alpine, banked circle, skid pan, 1 mile straight and race track ( mostly on race track) )in my SL 400 when it was brand new - didn’t bother with insurance. It is not a track day or hooning. It is driver training. No insurance needed.

Wet handling is a massive skid pan that they soak in water.

I think you are with the same guy I used.

Ivan Thompsett I guess? I know you said no insurance required but, given the fact his (Ivan's) insurance only covers damage to other cars or people and nothing else, I felt safer buying separate cover (i.e cover for damage to my car, track infrastructure and recovery). In any case, i've had to postpone the course until October due to a family bereavement :(
