I am posting this as my car a E320 AVG which as new was supplied with a AMG Bodykit and 18inch AMG alloys. No mods to the engine, exhaust etc.
My problem is that some insurance companys will not cover me and some quote silly prices over £1000 with 8 yrs no claims etc.

What is the meaning of Modications as these items were suppiled by Mercedes prior to registation. FACTORY OPTIONS
Other companies do quote but you don t get the feeling that they have checked with underwriters as to whether the kit and wheels are covered.
Has anyone had a similiar experience or is this just another case of us being ripped off by insurance companys.

I call everywhere and got it from a local branch for £650 but I could have paid nearly double.

My insurance company were only interested in if the car had been modified from new, factory options are original....

I am with a specialist as after 3 mods insurance companies dont want to know!!

I pay 1100 pounds I think.

KV - who do you use? Mine's up in Feb and I'm looking for the best deal (as a Yorkshireman I resent spending money I don't have to!)

Thanks

This may be of interest to you.

I used Chris Knott insurance brokers for my CLK430 with modified suspension and wheels. The insurance itself is with WREN at Lloyds for £760 per annum.

I have max no claims declared.

Many Thanks Gents.
I have managed to get it for £650 from local Insurance. The message seems very very clear you can save upto 1/2 by shopping around.
It does annoy me how they describe factory options from Stealership as modications. These are Optional extras.

Thanks Again
Ian

Thanks for the info guys - I'll try them
