Of interest I have been shopping around for quotes for my car the policy will be Full Comp, Protected with Legal Ptrotection start end of this month. Some companies dont have a record of his car yet and will not quote some use the SLK320 as a basis and will stick by quote given, some insist on a tracker being fitted. Figures so far given vary from 660 to 427 pounds, I called some 15 companies most freephone (as you do). Lowest yet is ESURE, Mercedes Insurance was 504.

gary I have nothing else to do

Out of interest what did Direct Line come back with?

One that I have not got round to yet will let you know.

Alfie, Direct Line are one of the companies that insist on a tracker., I would think that 427 pounds is going to be difficult to beat with or without tracker.

Agreed. However, I did a similar exercise recently and Direct Line were the cheapest by about £100, offset the cost of tracker subscription (£99) and they are still the cheapest plus if your car gets nicked, you get it back. ;)

I'm 41 and have the ML insured with them, fully comprehensive, 60% no claims, wife named on policy (37), no convictions for £357. :)

Esure website wont quote me for some reason.

Although I am sure it could be fitted cheaper elsewhere, my local MB is quoting 499 (does not include fitting) for the full blown horizon and plus 325 full subscription which is nigh on 1K alot of dosh. Although I will look into it further ie other systems that are acceptable to the ins companies, I am a bit of a novice where tracker systems are involved.

The only requirement that esure has is you must have at least 4 years no claim. Liverpool & Victoria were second lowest by the way.

Gary,

Liverpool and Victoria seem to have developed a good reputation - I'm insured with them, and was recently borrowing a car for the weekend from a dealer, for which I had to get additional cover. Long story short, the test drive was postponed on the day I was due to pick it up - phoned up L + V an hour AFTER cover was due to start and they sent me a cheque for a full refund no questions asked - seem very good on service, and you don't even need a tracker for a M3!

I've got over six years NCB but their website still said no. I suspect its something to do with my postcode. A chap down my road had his brand new BMW 330d nicked one night about a year ago. The thieves eased open the front door at night whilst he was in bed, took the keys and off they went.

Trackers can be fitted for around £200. The £325 is for lifetime (of you owning the car!) subscription or £99 per year.

Good luck and thanks for the tip about L&V I'll check them out.
