...and yet again may all financial providers burn in the hottest corner of Hell.

Mrs P's SLK renewal has come in from Privilege at £431

The Meerkats have come up with a quote at £178.

There is a prize of £1,000,000.00 for guessing what insurance company has provided that quote.

I don't know why people get upset by this, it's a game they (& we) play where the slow witted pay a loyalty fine.

Just plan on comparison shopping all your insurance policies, utilities, phone, broadband, mobile, TV & what have you every time they are up for renewal or a contract ends.

Simples!

Hi,

If you haven't tried us please do feel free to PM me your details & I can arrange a call back for you to see what we can offer.

Kind regards,

I am sorry but AF is a joke.

They couldn't give me a decent price for a W211 E55... I went with Hastings Direct (I have a clean record).

LV for me with a Baby Oleg

Get this chaps.

To recap, co-op renewal more expensive than Meerkats.
Meerkats have co-op as cheapest by £40 so go with that. Try to click through and co-op ask me to phone as I am an existing customer.

Call co-op and am told that they cannot open new policy until old policy has expired (at midnight of course) This means my vehicle is uninsured until I can call them in the morning to take out the new policy. If it's stolen during the night I am not covered. Nice!

Advise the poor struggling call handler that this is utter madness and causing me to break the law. He shares my bewilderment and disappointment but there is nothing he can do for me.

Good job the car is off the road otherwise Plod could tow it away and give me a fine and points.

I have now made a formal complaint to Financial Ombudsman. This will probably cost them more than the £40!

The madmen really have taken over the asylum!

How does this work with the new "digital tax disk" system, whereby if your car is uninsured, it must be SORN?

Do they (dvla) give you the usual few days leeway, or are you pretty much stuffed to change provider?

A friend of mine said he'd just insured his Maserati with direct line for just over £400 inc protected no claims !!! Couldn't believe it so I rang round and prices have really come down. About the cheapest was Hastings Direct although direct line weren't far behind. The policy from Tesco is very competitive and is underwritten by the same insurance company I'm currently with ... and that was via a specialist broker.

I don't trust the comparison sites as I've always managed to get it cheaper from somewhere else.
