Insurance v Miles per Year?

It's that time of the year again, and Insurance looms.
But since I've taken early retirement, I don't seem to do the miles I once did.
I've always put 12000 per year down when asked, now I guessing it's going to be more like 8000 per year.
I paid around £200 for my SLK250d plus some fees for changing cars.
Will the Insurance companies want more or less do you think?
Thanks.

Who knows? Insurers decide premiums based on many factors and many of those factors are counterintuitive.

That said, when I retired (early) changing my occupation to "Retired" did cause a modest reduction in premium. As for the lower annual mileage you could always try a comparison site and play with that number to see what effect it has on the premium(s) offered.

Recently took the boys annual mileage from 6k > 3k as he is working away for six months at a time , it dropped the premium by around £30. Not a life changing amount but better in my pocket than theirs.

Strangely enough, when googling, the cheapest insurance comes at 11k-12k miles per annum?
I don't want yo start looking until next week, as that has an effect as well?

With many insurers the best time to get a quote is about three weeks prior to the renewal date.
Some occupations rate higher than 'retired', and other occupations rate lower.
Mileage, just be honest - If you needed to make a claim, then the last thing you want is delays due to inconsistencies between your insurance proposal and your actual usage (which can easily be checked nowadays).
If you previously had commuting use, can you now remove it from the proposal?
Last year you may have received a discount/increase to attract/turn away business - This year it could be the opposite.

Now where was that piece of string that I was going to measure... :)

On a previous insurance I had my annual mileage at 6,000 miles. I was almost at that mileage with a couple of months to go so I informed the insurance company. They increased it to 8,000 miles and charged me just an extra £25
