Insurance write off

That's a fairly straightforward repair. (I repair cars for a living).

Take the insurance company's offer and ask to purchase it as Cat C /D salvage.

At worse it will need a new wing but the bumper is repairable imo.

Definitely get comparables same age and spec..submit to insurance company.. same thing happened to my brother who parked outside my house... luckily got the hit and run drivers registration on my CCTV and Police located him..

That is backwards .

It is HIS car , they can't take it away without his consent , and he doesn't have to agree to sell it to them if he doesn't want to .

You are always entitled to cash in lieu of repairs , up to a value lower than the write off value .

I don't agree, cash in lieu of repairs is not a given. Yes, you don't have to let your insurers have your car, you can withdraw your claim and get nothing.
