Insure yourself incase you lose your licence

On top of this I also have number plate insurance included as part of my policy, so if my car is written off or stolen with a personalised number plate on it (which means I have then 'lost' that plate, they will reimburse me for the cost of that personalised plate).

You don't necessarily lose a personalised number plate if your car is stolen or written off:

Like so many insurance policies no doubt there will lots of "get out" clauses or restricted payout conditions so may not offer all the benefits it advertises. Any organisation that tells you There are a few exclusions such as driving whilst over the alcohol limit or under the influence of drugs a full list of terms and conditions, including exclusions will be emailed to you with your membership documents. should be viewed with caution.

As others have said, these policies have been around for many years and there certainly used to be one that covered for drink driving as long as you weren't more than twice the limit.

It's easy to scoff and say you should be more careful but a 50odd year old colleague of mine has never had a conviction in his life and then got snapped twice by fixed speed camera and once by a mobile unit - within 2 weeks! He's wetting himself now as he's got 3 yrs of sitting on 9 points.

They are not the cause as you say. But if you did not have to worry quite as much about losing your licence, then you might not be so careful.

i don't have to worry about smashing up my living room now cause i have house insurance, but i still don't hold any five a side tournaments in there...


lets face it, it works as a nice reassurance that if the worst happened you've got a backup plan.

but the loss of a license is still as real as ever and just as painful.. so you'd be plenty careful.
