I have been feeling a little upset re with my current internet provider
- which is Virgin Media, i am paying £19.99 p/m for 2meg BB.

Till the other day i see an advert for their new customers they are offering 2meg BB for £4.50 for the first 3 months and then £9 there on after.

But what did me was they are also offering 20meg to their new customers
for £10.00 p/m (for first 3 months) and then £20.00 p/m

So i called them up to see why this is and all they said was that they didnt have that information to hand!! and that was their lowest priced BB.

so i sorta in a round about way said well im gonna go to another provider,
virgin just didnt seem to care that i was gonna change.

And later that day i found out that my dad is paying £25.00 p/m for 2meg BB from Virgin Media??

is it me or do they just charge everyone all different prices?
And when you do call them they offer no help or resolution.

I feel like sky+ maybe
getting my vote as i have been with virgin for 4 years now and have no contract with them!

ahhhhhhh feel better now thats all out! hope it makes sense :)

please let me know what you think about my situation with virgin and what point to look for if im gonna get sky.

i had the virgin media XL TV, Phone M(free weekends and evenings), and 2meg BB @ £60p/m

sky are offering the same TV and Phone + 16meg BB @ £28p/m
(i know i can only get 6.5meg over the BT line tho but its better then i got now)

Hi, customer loyalty does not count for a lot these days. Had same issues with my isp recently. However the threat to move away from them brought the price down by half. Same thing with mobile phone, called to cancel their service and price was reduced by half.
If Virgin are charging too much, vote with your feet. There are plenty of choices out there.
 
i use virgins up to 8 meg service and would not recommend it. i am currently getting a dismal speed of 27kbs:eek: . absolutely disgusting and there customer service is the worst i have ever had to put up with:mad: . i am currently looking for another provider:o .
 
I've been with tiscali for years and had no problems with them.

I'm on the full 8meg (unlimited downloads) with free calls (7 dqays) and all for 16-17 quid per month. its a great deal and even though my initial contract had long expeired, I signed up with them for another 12 months to get my free wireless router\modem as I'm staying with them for the foreseeable.

Check out their homepage and see what deals are on affer at the moment.
 
Be - get about 14meg unlimited of the advertised "up to 24" for around the price eveyone else is quoting - currently £17/month - has proved very reliable. Previously with Freeserve>Wanadoo>Orange but gave up on them when they told me my unlimited bandwidth wasn't anymore.

If you're looking at non-cable ISPs; make sure you check Sam Knows

it tells you not only how far from the exchange you are; but also the theoretical maximum you can achieve with eac provider...

I'm with Virgin (20 meg cable, and I get 19.9mb/s), and while the speed is good I've blacklisted Virgin, BT and Tiscali... why?
Because they all signed up for Phorn (they send information about what sites you visit to Phorn, who then injects adverts into your pages dependent on what you looked at).

Secondly because they have agreed to send all your browsing history to yet another 3rd party, this time to scan if you have downloaded something they think you can't download...

I've been with all the incarnations of what is now Virgin and have had no real problems - the pricing is a bit of a minefield and although no proof may have a lot to do with who you were with before they became Virgin.

A decent service advisor should be able to look at your existing tariff and depending on individual circumstances make you a better offer.

A word of caution, Virgin offer two types of discount (I can't remember the terms for the respective offers, they appear on your statement) one is permanent and one is only for twelve months.

Good for you, I suppose the danger is running out of options.

From my point of view, no BT line, I can imagine jumping through hoops for that. Till then stuck with Virgin.

I have been using bethere for a while now. £18 per month for up to 24mbps dload. I get 17mbps and is very reliable - if you want to join pm me and i will send you an email which gives you a month for free (plus I get one too!)

ps No download limits that I am aware of and I have used over 50gb on a few months!

I would have said Demon as the broadband itself is reliable and email rarely doesn't work, but have a problem (or in my case move house) and their customer service is woeful.

If I didn't have so many email addresses with them I'd cancel them tomorrow.
 
Been with BT broadband home hub for about 18 mths, paying £26.99 per month so decided to change to Sky. When i contacted Sky was told that the cheap broadband not available in the near future in my area so would be £17.99 per month. Decided not to change so just changed to Sky talk instead. Contacted by BT who offered new home hub with phone, reduced monthly charge to £19.99 and put me on option 2 (free weekend and evening calls) for no extra charge so decided to cancel Sky talk and stay with BT. I get app 6mb download speed and very few problems. Moral of this story is if you are no longer under contract BT will make a good offer for you to stay.
 
I'm with SKY, I pay £10 month for unlimited usage, no cap on downloads. They say its upto 16 MB download speed, although this depends on how close you are to the exchange and if youve got good links from you to them etc. Have been with them for the last year and a bit, cant fault the service. You also get a free wireless router and 1 year subscription to Mcafee (yikes!!!).
