Do you know whether the gearbox was uprated?

No upgrades to the gearbox as I'm best aware - there have been no problems with it.

Welcome Robert, how did you come to a figure of £16000?

Many of the members on here will confirm that C43 values are on the slide. There was a mint 1 owner 29000 mile (un-modified) example recently un-sold for £10k recently. Even then most people thought it was too pricey.

    No offence intended just interested.............

Thanks for the welcome. No offence taken. I'm sure you'll agree that putting a value on unusual cars like this is difficult. As this thread shows, it's the kind of car which will garner widely differing opinions of its worth.

If you were to buy the C43 you cite, the extra cost for this car would cover half the cost of the supercharger installation, and there are the other upgrades, so from that perspective it doesn't seem so unreasonable. I accept of course that modifications aren't worth anything like their cost when it comes to selling on.

I'm a realist and the bottom line is that the car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm considering listing it on ebay - nothing like an auction to determine market value!

Well that will be an auction worth watching, not sure if that would be a true value either given that something this specialised will probably just take time to find the right buyer.

Whats it like with the supercharger then:eek: ?

How about the brakes? Have they been upgraded? :)

And, indeed, welcome to the forum! :bannana:

The delivery from the supercharger is very linear. Aside from the rate of acceleration the supercharger gives, most people wouldn't realise it was there, and because the car still has the standard exhaust, it's quite civilised in the cabin. I think the most telling thing is how easy it is to cause the traction control to kick in. The previous owner warned me never to disable it in the wet - and that's smart advice. I wouldn't recommend disabling it in the dry either - unless you're an especially talented driver.

No upgrades to the brakes. They do a good job - though I'm sure they wouldn't suit track day use ;)

I'm not a fan of personalised plates - the car still has the original. I can't see 'C43 AMG' on any of the invoices, but that's not to say the car never had that plate.

    Hi Robert,

It definately used to wear 'C43 AMG' when Birds had it as their demonstator :)

Out of interest, has it still got the VHS tape player in the boot?

It has "C43 AMG" when it was for sale at Jason Barker, too.
If there's not evidence of it in the history, could it have a show plate, perhaps?

    Thats what I was thinking.

Apparently C43 AMG reg is still registered to a C43AMG....Possibly a different one from Bird's?

You're right in that it was the Birds demonstrator, so I'm sure you're right about the plate too.

Yes, it still has the VHS player - as well as DVD!
