interesting parts prices

decided i couldn't put off a few jobs for any longer so popped down the stealers for a few parts today after a little "shopping around", here's some interesting price comparisons

rear suspension accumulators

dealer price (including seals) £137 the pair
the garage - manchester (excluding seals) £147 the pair
hastings continental (local equivalent of ECP) £140 the pair


Steering damper

dealer price £37 for a genuine MB part (including new nyloc nuts and washers)
the garage £45 for a genuine part (not including fitting kit)
ECP price £35 for a non genuine part
hastings continintal £38 for non genuine MB part

Caliper retaining bolts x 4

dealer - £1.30 each (although the service guy said re use the old ones and put a bit of loctite on them)
the garage - £2.20 each
hastings continental - £2 each


all prices include vat/delivery where applicable


Interesting that once again the dealers work out cheapest - genuine parts cheaper than pattern ones seems very strange

Heh just don't get the stealership to fit anything for you Labour charges is where they make their money, when it comes to parts and servicing.
