An interesting photograph (well to me) relating to my hometown, which I found while looking at old photos online. It's from a reliable source so the info should be correct.

It certainly was possible to 'choose' registrations, to some extent. My grandfather managed to get "S150" on his 1959 Jaguar XK 150S drophead, and he wasn't a celebrity or VIP!

The Ford's on a H plate, so it was at least 1969 /1970 when the picture was taken.
