I've a 210 with rotary dials on the dash for fan speed control. Manual air con I suppose it's called. However, I've no fan at all. I've checked my fuses, 4 & 7 from what I can see, and they look ok. Am I looking at a dead speed regulator as a likely cause?
Wrong weather to be without a fan!

I think I've found the answer. I took the fan and regulator out and noticed the fan wasn't free to rotate. In other words stiff in its bearings. I fiddled a while and loosened it up with a tiny bit of lube. I checked it before reassembling and it seems to work ok now. I reassembled the lot and good to go. Thankfully nice and easy to access. Merc want £188 + VAT for the regulator by the way. Hopefully that's the job done.

I too have a similar problem with my 2008 W211. When I turn the fan off, I can hear it clicking as it slows and stops. Also when I turn it on, my revs increase presumably because the motor is taking more power than it should to rotate.

How do I get to the fan to have a play?
