interior light

hello all, when I unlock the car with the remote, or open the door, the interior light doesn't come on. I can switch it on manually by pressing the switch in the roof where the light is.

I plugged my scanner in (I980) which tells me the door is open. when I push the door sensor in, it tells me the door is shut.

no fault codes are showing. car is a w203

any ideas?

Is it dark when you're testing the light?

no it was daylight. but in the dark, the interior light still doesn't come on.

You need to cover the light sensor in the screen to test during the daylight but as you say it doesn't work at night the next question is, have you set the 3 position switch to the auto position? IIRC from my 203 that was the centre position.

ok, I will try that and report back. I guess the sensor is the small dot in the screen near the rear view mirror.

Yes, easy to cover with a piece of tape etc.. on the outside of the screen
