Interior lights coming on every 15 minutes

Guys, my 1996 C200 W202 has an intermittant problem with the interior lights coming on every 10-15 minutes for about 10 seconds when the car is locked up and ignition is off. The problem does not occur when the ignition is on. I have taken all of the bulbs out to save the battery draining but i am looking for any help in getting to the route cause.

First thoughts are that there is a door somewhere which thinks it is opening, thereby activating the interior lights. Is the alarm/immobiliser activating too?

Check your door switches, would be my advice.

I have had a look at the door switces but they seem to be ok, the lights come on and go off every 10 - 15 minutes and i thought that if it was something as simple as a switch it would only happen once.
