Anyone had this done? retro fitted leather interior? how did it work out? what did it cost and are you happy with it? is it "as good" as a factory leather interior?

I don't mean getting a set of seats off ebay, but rather getting their own seats retrimmed by someone or even getting new 'covers' and fitting them themselves?

I have an 08 model C220 Sport - it has the std. half cloth half vinyl (sorry, artico!) interior and I have decided that it is, indeed, crap. When I bought the car i thought i could live with it, but it is quite embarrasing to own and not the nicest interior for a good car.

I appreciate this might be in the region of £900 - £1100 would that sound about right?

Any companies recommended up here in the Northwest of England ?

I had it done at D:class here in Woking. They work for Ferrari, McLaren and various others. They are very very good and reasonably priced. they use factory leathers and the finish is supurb.

Other forum members have used them too. depending on what you want done the pricing doesnt seem to far off.

ah yes - I had heard about D:class before - I searched a bit on the forum and they came up a few times. Bit of a trek from Preton to leave the car with them though!

Am I right in thinking that the W204 doesn't have any leather on the door cards if leather is a factory option? the layout of the card doesn't appear to have an "area" which would be leather if it was fitted (if you see what I mean)

And also thinking of going for a colour other than black - perhaps a darker red? - I have come from BMW recently so am familiar with the BMW leather titles - but they used to do a "oxblood red" leather for their E46 shape cars which I thought looked great on silver cars (My C220 is silver btw) - a sort of, well, ox blood red really.

I also LOVE antigue brown leather in cars - again, BMW do a leather called "terra" which looks great, but not sure how it would look in a silver car - any thoughts?
(my wife thought this would be hideous btw)
I also like the 'cappucino' leather fitted to some mercs but again, never seen it in a silver car - might be weird - might be best sticking to black...

(does the colour, generally speaking, affect the price btw?)

Thanks for replies!

You need to see Peter's S203. Its silver with Red seat inserts all done by D:Class. As far as I know the colour doesnt alter the price. The choice of nappa leather over normal does though.

Edit: You could perhaps make a fews days break of it and visit MB world whilst they do the work?

I was talking to Mercedes Walsall about leather options on new E-class and kids etc....the lady there mentioned they have a leather specialist who can re-trim seats.

You can call them and ask for the details, might be a bit closer and doesn't hurt to get a comparative quote.

Having said that just saw a short article on d:class in a mercedes magazine, glowing reports on older cars and matching quality of materials to Merc spec.

Obviously someone like D:Class would do a good job and undoubtedly be the best choice for a bespoke colour scheme etc, but as the W204 is a fairly common/mainstream car why not consider a leather interior from a salvage car? Must be quite a few in breakers by now, and I'd have thought leather wouldn't be all that difficult to come accross? :)

As the W204 is only a couple of years old, I'd also have thought that most interiors would still be in immaculate condition

I'd definitely look for used leather seats rather than go down the re-trim route.

No more than half the cost of a re-trim & factory original will make it easier to sell on.

^^ Aha - this is a good idea - I have had a look on ebay - nothing there for the 204 - are there any online resources to breakers or is it a case of calling around?
