Intermitant non start

Hi Guys

Got a real pain of a job here. Got an 163 ml 320 with an intermitant non start and when i say intermitant i mean maybe once every 2 months

.

What happens if you go to start it it will crank fire up and cut out and you get start error on the dash.

I have read the fault codes and i get P1570 in the ME control unit
B1703-000,B1703-001, B1703-002 and B1716 in the AAM

And also sometimes B1386 and B1341 in the SEm control unit.

I am thinking the AAM or the SEM is failing but dont want to put a control unit on it in case its not.

We have tried it with another key and it still dos the same, i have seen somewhere about an earth strap on the car plays up but for the life of me cannot remember which one

Hello, just a random thought, is the Crankshaft Position Sensor a possibility ? Regards Damian.

I think the earth strap you may be thinking of is on the o/s engine mount to chassis more common on cdi but you get no starter .I would tend agree with the sem/aam playing up or transponder ring?
