Afternoon all.

After having the car off the road for 4 months doing a heap of work on it, it's now back in daily use. I've a problem when travelling at speeds above 60mph, or up hill. The engine "coughs" it feels like an intermittant fuel delivery problem.

No issues when idling, or driving below 60mph.

I've recently changed all the filters, including pre-filters, and the syphon in the tank - when doing this I completely drained the tank and put fresh fuel in afterwards. The

The problem seemed to start after running a couple of tanks of Veg oil (Back in June) Could it be related to this.

Any hints, tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

For info, the car is a 1993 300TD Manual

Any ideas?

Cheers./

Tim.

check pressure delivery pump.
what code engine ? 603 or 606 ?

Hi there.

Thanks for your reply - how would I check these pressures?

I think it's the 603 engine - how do I confirm this?

Sorry for all the questions.

Tim.

give me win code your car (first six digits)

Having driven with Veggy for a while the Injectors may want cleaning as they could be partly blocked and thus not delivering full fuel on high revs. As it was off road for a while this would aggravate the problem as they would be gummed up.

Make sure the fuel filter is good/new too.

replace the main filter again and check the pre-filter

it could still be pulling crud from the tank through that has been cleaned off with the veg oil.

usually happens after about 1000 miles after running on veg

Any suggestions on how best to clean the injectors?

I've checked the logbook - it's the 603 engine for sure.

Thanks for all help.

I'll replace the filters (again)

and I'll let you all know how I get on.

Cheers.

Still interested in how to pressure test.

Tim

And ...... once I've put new filter in again, is there any advantage of putting some redex or equivalent through the system?

ta

you could do...

Use Millers instead of Redex. Available from your friendly Halfrauds....

Forte would be good too. You can get that off E-Bay and some MB stealers sell it

Dont mix it with any veg oil though as it doesnt like it, only put it in a tank with diesel in

Injectors need to be removed by a competent person, as they will be very tight, and then stripped and cleaned properly. This is best done at a Dealership or Good Independent. Not a job for an amateur.
