I have a problem which is intermittent when starting my C240 W202. I was wondering if any of you experienced guys have any ideas about this and could confirm that it may be the crankshaft position sensor?

Sometimes the car cranks and does not start. Most of the time it starts first time. There does not seem to be any pattern. It always starts first time when stone cold. First failed to start when parked up for six hours in the daytime. Today failed to start when hot, but fired immediately on second attempt.

Thanks in advance

Doug

Thanks for the welcome! I have actually been a member of the forum for years but for some reason my old username has stopped letting me post!

It does sound like the CKP is faulty. Probably cheaper to replace than have a diagnostic session.

if not starting when hot it will be the crank sensor cheap and easy to change
