Intermittent wipe fail

95 E280 estate- intermittent wipe very random- also manual rt indication not working but auto right indication normal- any ideas?!

Wiper is either the relay or the multifunction switch. The relay is the one at the front when you remove the cover from the relay section of the fuse box. £35 from MB. Ours had the same issue and was cured by a new relay. Sorry but not sure what you mean by manual and auto indication.

Wipers solved with relay thanks- if I use right turn signal it works fine, but if I push the stalk half way, like when I am overtaking, nothing happens- I think I may need a new stalk

Now I understand. Yes a new stalk is in order. Oddly enough I had the same issue a couple of years ago. Even stranger our local dealer had one in stock. They had had it for ages and were so glad to see it go they gave me 40% off!

Changed the relay to one from my old car- was working fine, then the wipers failed completely followed by the indicators! Completely confused- seems to be blowing the relays for some reason- it's in the specialist tonight hopefully for a quick fix in am for me to drive to Dublin! Just got the car so disappointed at present

Its an old car and these sort of issues will keep cropping up unless the previous owner was really obsessional. Took about 18 months to iron out the little issues with ours. Dont get disheartened.
