My 209 CLK is losing power steering fluid. I took it into a garage today but they could not find any signs of a leak, they did report that there was a drip from the gearbox.

Does anyone have a diagram of the route the power steering pipes take around the engine as I suspect one is close to the gearbox and is leaking.

Thanks

Peter

My E39 BMW is losing PS Fluid too and it is down to the rubber pipes becoming porous with old age so consider that possibility also.

Would porous pipes leak slowly? The fluid went from Max to below Min in 4 days.

If the steering rack is leaking the fluid may now be in the rubber bellows at each end. That's what happened with our Audi.
