iPhone/iPhone 3G plug-in cradle?

I'll try and pop over sometime, what do you think of them? I take it these enable the keypad and phone functions on the dash and steering wheel to work? (sorry I'm very new to Mercedes)

What are your opening hours?

Thanks.

does the phone book work with the cradle?

I know it's not what you're looking at, but I've just ordered the new brodit iphone 3G car cradle with pass through dock connector.

I'm planning on mounting this in the car and using an ipod dock extender cable (available on ebay) hidden behind the facia and running to a kensinton LiquidAUX in my armrest compartment (where I have a 12v socket and an aux input).

it's not integrated with the car like you might be looking for, but it'll mean I can choose songs on the iphone itself (which I prefer), I can initiate phonecalls from it and it's nice and visible, while still getting power, outputting audio and hopefully, looking professional.

I'm hoping to get the cradle in the next few days, still need to order the dock extention cable and then I need to work out to take apart the fasia so I can neatly run the cables. Of course the telephonic connection to the car will also be via bluetooth (once I get the idrive/BT frmware updated)

I'll take some pics when it's done.

PS. this is in my BMW remember, not a merc. There is an official iphone kit for the BMW, but I'd rather have the phone on display and use it's interface.

These cradles integrate with all the existing components of the car. So all your stering wheel controls work with it, you get address book download and display in the instrument cluster.

Happy to meet up whenever. Just drop me a line/PM when you are free.

Dave,

I'd love to see the end result.

I have Comand 2 and I don't think there's a real chance of full integration for my iPod Touch 2G and my Nokia E90, but I'm hoping to find a charger cradle to connect to AUX and just use the iPod controls. Same thing with my E90, I already bought the Brodit charger cradle and now investigating the possibilites how to use the Comand 2 for hands-free calls...

A couple of points -

The original iPhone and the iPhone 3G are different dimensionally therefore different cradles to suit each model .

The NEW iPhone 3G(S) is out on June 19th - see Apple website . May need yet another cradle .
