My CLS has a 3.5mm in the glovebox and the iPod works well through AUX channel, but I'd like to be able to scroll through and use the SW controls.

Has anybody fitted an iPod kit to a CLS?

Is it difficult and does it work well?

Cheers,
Jez.

Hi,
I have not fitted one to a CLS - I have a CLK, and put in the MB kit, but the functionality is OK - just OK - not great. You have to use the steering wheel buttons for up/down and the 2 phone buttons, and you see one line at a time in the dash display - nothing in the COMAND screen. There are alternatives though - I understand the Dension kit is considered better :dk: - and may help with your phone issues too.

That's a real shame, you would of though that MB would of done better.

I did look at the Denision for my CLK, but their technical said the bluetooth didn't work with Blackberry's.

Has anybody else any experience of connecting their iPod to comand.

What is the best solution (MB or not)?

Cheers,
Jez.

My E55 has a dension kit on Comand 2 and runs fine, it is the kit that you can control fully with all buttons but does not display track details. Just displays track number only on command and dash display. You can navigate through tracks, fast forward etc. You can however get a dension kit that displays track information, check the dension site for details.

If you have comand then you can fit a Mercedes ipod kit which has full control from the steering wheel and track display in the instrument cluster.

I have the MB kit in my CLS and CLK, think they are great.

Once you get the hang of using the up/down and phone buttons it is fine. The only downer IMHO is that the text does not scroll on the display, so say if you have a track called 'Once upon a time in the west' you will only see 'Once upon a t'.

If you are going to get an MB dealer to fit it, shop around - prices varied from £300 upto £650 when I searched - all official Mercedes Dealers.

I had Comand on line fit an MB kit for me, it was a while you wait service, a good deal cheaper than the dealer and a very professional job by Richard and Mark....and nice blokes to.

The MB kit I highly recommended as you get full functionality.

Regards

Richard

Hi
I have fitted quite a few of these kits and i think they are great as they are really easy to use once you have the hang of it.
Your kit is one of the hardest to do as the wiring has to be run to the rear sam of the vehicle
