iPod playlists not visible using comand system

I hope someone can help, hopefully proving my fears unfounded.

I have a 2010 S500 W221, which I believe has comand 3.5.

In the glove box I have a USB connector and I believe the three phono jack sockets so I believe there is no media interface.

I have connected my iPod using a standard apple cable with the USB socket, I can see artists, tracks, but no playlists.

Can anyone shed any light on whether this is fixable with a cable, a setting... An ounce of common sense, or am I looking at needing to change anything more significant?

Ah well, got nowhere - spoke to a dealership who believe only solution is a retrofit iPod interface which is a snip fitted at £980..... So no playlists then, unless anyone knows any better

Media interface can be retrofitted at a lot less than £980... talk to Alfie on Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk (forum sponsor)

Note, that BT have broken the phone line at the moment :-(
