That's because they are using the newer (better) v2 DAB+, only in the UK are we sticking with the crap version..

What's needed for mobile DAB is the ability to search and retune automatically (requires 2 tuners?) much the same as RDS FM

Because most EU countries have invested in DAB

The Sirius system in the US is indeed very good and quite popular with a lot of major manufacturers fitting it as standard.

I live in a DAB-free hole in Hampshire - there's just no DAB signal at all, checked with the postcode finder-thing. So threats to replace my steam radio with something that doesn't work seems, well, Very British. Having said that, I play MP3's in the car, but leave the TA traffic news on. What I really want is something that plays 78's, and also does traffic.

I would be gutted if DAB was dropped.
There is nothing left on FM that I truly enjoy.

Radio 2 is just awful these days, during the day anyway. (unless the 'has beens' like Ken Bruce are on holiday and they get good presenters in).
Radio 4 gets the odd listen.
Classic FM is great but not in the car, can't hear half the music.
Radio 1 I am listening to more as I can't stand Radio 2.

Radio 5 Live is my station of choice with no Dab.

But with Dab you have Jazz FM and loads of choice.

We do need Dab+ though.



App integration will change things too.
My most listened to radio station is Calm Radio, $5.99 a month and it gets around 200 hours of playtime every month. Excellent value.
Just need to improve our crappy 3g coverage in cars so it becomes a real alternative.
