You can't blame him for trying to get top dollar, but as could be seen by a forum member on here struggling to sell his mint supercharged C43, he might be in for a long wait....

Are these engines actually modified by AMG or are they E430/S430 lumps squeezed into a C class?

It certainly looks clean - but it would need half the miles to be knocking on teh door of £12.5K

It's a AMG car no doubt, I think the 43 is one of the first 'proper' AMG's.

even if it's had 30K on the car I woudnt pay over 12K for a 1998, you can pick up a decent w211 e55 for that price.

    It's a joke.

A decent C43 will set you back between 3-6k max.

Iirc the last 'original' AMG was the C36 before Mercedes bought AMG.

The C43 was the first under Mercedes ownership.

It's not an original AMG, the c36 was a mercedes C280 that was sent to AMG to be modified, I woudn't call it a 'proper' AMG...

I agree that the C43 was the first saloon designed as an AMG and not modified by AMG.

To some, the C36 is the last proper AMG. Mercedes buying AMG took some of the 'individuality' away from them.

    If that makes sense.

but it wasnt an AMG, it was a C280, Mercedes gave AMG a spec to follow and make the C36 while the C43 was designed to be an AMG from the start and had AMG input from day 1

The C36 Doesnt even have AMG seats like the 43.

It's like buying a C280 and sending it to brabus or kleemann to be modified.

    Hi,
I think he is dreaming a bit, but it is a stunning example with a very rare and unique colour combo, there was another one this colour a while back but it had the more common white/black interior.
As has been said the C43 was the first AMG to be built from start to finish on the same production line and the first AMG vehicle built after MB's take over/buy out of AMG.
The C43 is an AMG tuned engine, and differs from the other M113 V8's in that it has different cams, injectors, airbox, fuel pump, ECU MAPP, AMG exhaust system with a one off gearbox and TCU software.

The E430 has about 270-280 hp but the C43 just over 300

I think we are arguing different points here.:)

To clarify, the C36 was the last to be made not influenced by Mercedes ownership of AMG.

The point I'm making is think of Lamborghini before VAG bought them.

    Are we talking pre-merger and/or post-merger?

    I think so...

I'm under the impression that Mercedes acquired AMG and then released the C43?
