Car
ML 300
Afternoon Folks

I hope you are all well

So I'm finally getting a company car early March so the ML will be surplus to requirements
On a 2009 plate with 187k on the clock she's a little long in the tooth but still a great work horse with recent MOT, tyres and service
I have had her for about 11 years and always serviced her at a local Mercedes specialist and anything needed has been done
She takes her time starting in the morning but after turning over a couple of times she springs to life
Recently had a bit of juddering when at a stop in drive which i started a thread on so looks like the torque converter is giving up and this is way beyond my capabilities

So the dilemma is do i put it on here at a bargain price and someone could get a few more years (or even more if they liked a tinker)
or do i just sent it to the "we buy any car" graveyard and have done with it

Try here first with pics and more details/price , then WBAC if you don’t get any tickles here ?

Same dilemma in my own thread (have I made a big mistake)

Our old Galaxy has been such a useful and problem free tool for life. Covering intergalactic mileage without fuss, not letting the side down ever and all for minimum investment.

Very sadly she has gone to WBAC just to avoid ‘the public’ and the ‘umming and arrring’ over a bargain price, tired car that just needs someone with time, a little knowledge and spanners. I cannot abide the moron who comes to look at a £1000 massive car with fsh complains about the fact that the paint is not as glossy as it should be…the old girl deserves to at least give up her good parts for other Galaxy’s to live on

She could be fully fixed for 2-3k, but it is time to let go and simply remember how she moved us, as a family, on and helped us to discover new places and adventures.

May she rest in peace, glory to her and all who benefit from her parts.

Just to add one final insult I had to put new discs. Pads and a calliper on the back end as the drivers side one wouldn’t retract and wore the pad down to metal 🤦🏻
That’s another £500 down the hole but it had to be done as I had to head to Scotland for business

Sounds like as soon as you get your company car. Just get rid. WBAC and have done with. And fingers crossed, nowt else goes wrong with it, until your new motor arrives. 🙂👍

No value in keeping the ML as a "couldn't care less car" / tip run / station car / winter beater / dog car / keep the new car nice, car?

If it's £100 a month in total ownership cost for tax, ins and basic servicing only, that could be worth more than a nice meal out a month....?

Just a thought

"Use it or lose it."

And it's hard to see the benefit of running it as a second car to a company car.

Well yes, but fleet managers do take umbridge to company cars being trashed by tip runs and treated as unforgivingly as you might an ML with modest value attached to it.

It would be a luxury though and that's understandable
