My dealer is telling me that the Media Interface kit is a factory fit option on 2009 ML's and I can't have it fitted on mine. Is that correct as I am trying to get the dealer to fit a kit that will allow me to control my Ipod from the steering wheel and the radio head unit and I believe the Media Interface will do this.

Thanks

David

I suspect that it's not an official 'dealer' fit upgrade, which is not to say that specialists like Comandonline, can't do it. I think, in areas like this they are more knowledgeable than the average dealer.

It can be retrofitted though a dealer may not do it for you. You can fit the media interface or cheaper option is the dealer fit ipod or ipod video interface.

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: ML, GL & R Class (W164/W251)

Just pop down to Alfie and Richard at Comand in Woking, Surrey and have them fit it. Will need coding so they can code the cluster to remove UK mode at the same time. ;)

The dealer has already installed the ipod kit but it is not what I thought we had agreed. The ipod connectivity is an agreed condition of sale, I stated all along that I wanted to control the ipod from the radio as well as the steering wheel but this seems to have not been understood by the salesman for some reason. Two people at the dealer told me it was the media interface that would be installed so I don't see where the confusion is.

I am awaiting a call back but I think they are going to fob me off. Some of the blame is with me as I didn't get this in writing, lesson learnt.

BTW thanks for the link but that is where I went to make sure the MI was what I needed. Hence I was happy with the dealers proposal.
