I have only just got into doing the mechanics
Is there a guide prefably with pictures

I have the Haynes but their photos are not clear enough for me

Thanks to this site
I have replaced a viscous fan clutch(£36), sorted the power steering fluid (£8-99)and replaced the heater controller (£10)

Thanks again

Your car has pads not shoes:

Mercedes w202 c-230 front brake caliper service - YouTube

Mercedes Benz w202 rear brake pad replacement - YouTube

I don't want to be rude but if you haven't had much experience or aren't sure what you're doing then it's probably not a good idea to start working on your car's brakes.

You are right and I fully agree
To rephrase -just got into the the Mechanics of the W202
All my old cars had brake shoes, ford Pop, Anglia, hillman Imp.I use to change the shoes on these with no problems. Its just a habit of wording to say "shoes"
The W202 looks different thats why I asked for the advice. The pop looked like a little brother of my w202 thats why I bought it.
Even changed the headgasket on the pop, but it was simple. Only 8 bolts as it was a side valve engine

If you have a knowledgeable friend ask them to spend a couple of hours with you as you work through the job together. That will remove any guesswork and next time you'll know exactly what to do.

Just out of interest
When I had a ford cortina mk1 and the piston blew a hole in its top (loads of black smoke)
I worked out it could be replaced from underneath by removing the sump
Also the piston went in too easy and found the engine had been rebored

Experience of the new modern cars I do need too learn
Anyone in South Manchester that could teach me ?
