Is there a way of checking if my 722.6 gearbox has a torque converter drain plug?

Hi All,

As per title really, is there a way of knowing if my gearbox has the torque converter drain plug? Or will i only find out when i take the sump pan off? It's a 5spd 722.6 box on a 1998 C240 sport.

Thanks in advance!

The tc drain plugs were discontinued circa end of production year 1999, so therefore i would expect yours to be fitted with one.

You access the drain plug via an opening at the bottom of the bell housing (not the sump), there should be a rubber bung covering the hole but that probably disappeared long ago. )-:

My 98' C240T has one so I guess yours should also have a drain plug too :thumb:

As panasonic says; Remove rubber bung at the bottom of the bellhousing.

Watch the torqeconvertor through the aperture whilst rotating the engine slowly (with a socket on the crankpulleynut).

If your TC has a drain bung it will come into view.
