Is this kind if alloy wheel corrosion repairable with a refurb?

Never had a wheel like this before, where you can see the actual alloy inside/under the paint, rather than very light surface corrosion or worming. I suppose they are 15 years old though.

I only noticed as the winter wheels are on and the back summer wheel look like this.

Will a refurb sort it?

Cheers

Yes they will refurb okay - but the corrosion looks quite advanced, expect some noticeable pitting once they’re stripped and blasted to clean metal.

Looks like where the coating/paint has failed (damaged) - probably when tyres have been fitted/old weights removed etc.

Cheers - strange that it only happened to one wheel, one of the rears! Seems I need two new rear tyres AND a full refurb before the spring/summer...

It’ll have pitting but they generally use a thicker paint such as Ford Astral Silver to mask it.

I’d be inclined to get those chemically dipped, blasted and powder coated for durability especially on the inner barrels.

Yeah, that's the only type of refurb I'd do.

I'm going to get all the wheels refurbed anyway, I just wanted to know if I need to buy a new (second hand) wheel before getting them all refurbed, or if it will refurb without issue.

Ultimately, the refurbishers will tell you.
