Dealer sent me an email stating the following

''The way that AMG cars are built (outlined below) means that black leather has to stay on the invoice and then gets changed to Designo Porcelain.

AMG Cars are built in the same plant as the standard C Class estate. They are built with black leather and are then moved to the AMG plant where the Black Leather is ripped out and the porcelain leather is hand stitched especially for the car''

So is this true?

The base colour on the datacard remains black. There will be an option code for Designo leather on the vehicle.

If you not sure, PM me the VIN and i can check it for you.

No that is great. Thanks for your help. I was just worried as I changed my mind on the leather colour and was concerned it may arrive the wrong colour! If I get the VIN I may just get you to check it. Thanks again Mark

When I went in to the dealers to sort the paperwork on mine i nearly had a heart attack when I spotted black leather on the invoice. :-) but porcelain was on the options and it arrived with the correct interior.

The designo nappa leather is fitted on the production line so no cars are sent to AMG for that work. However, I do believe the base leather is always black, unless otherwise selected, on the ordering list then designo is an additional code.

I saw a C63 on the production line last year when I visited Sindelfingen and it had the nappa leather seats already installed in it as it was moving on the conveyor 'belt'. :-))
