Someone out there must know the answer? Is it the case that Moslims believe that they will get to heaven if they kill an infidel.
a. Is this statement true?
b. What is the definition of an infidel?

Thanks Guys!

Edit: is there a reliable simple website that will confirm the answer in words I can understand and pass on?

Thanks OGiii. "a. Yes, but possibly No - depending on what suits at the time " having read those links I know what you mean!!

The answer to your First question is NO.

Killing another human being is not allowed in any religion including Islam.
Most islamic scholars will be able to confirm this.
Jihad is a struggle...it can be a inner spiritual striggle within yourself or in the case of the crusades a defence of your religion when being attacked. It is defensive not offensive.

The view of the majority of muslims has been that taking a life in the cause of religion is wrong and leads straight to hell. The suicide bombers we hear of in palestine, and other countries are an act of desparation of the peoples struggles, they can't be defended but when someone observes the plight of these people one can see their desparation. It is similar to the banned ANC in apartied south Africa which once was a terrorist group now heads the Government.

The definition of infidel I'm not sure since it not something many modern muslims use in their vocabulary.

The first link is a far from the truth. If one does their own research into the authentic texts rather than relying on anecdotal statements which distort the picture of true islam then it can be a lot clearer. Even President Bush believes islam is a a very tolerant religion. It is those who use its name for political means is what all this terrorism is all about.

:(I believe that the bit about killing an infidel to go to heaven dates out of the first crusade and was decreed by pope II Urban in order to get the shagging rioting fighting hoards out of his country to go "Reclaim the Holy lands!!!". What followed was nothing less than an England football hooligan’s away day that lasted 250 years with the added bonus that most of Europe joined in on our side :( not a pretty site.

Most, if not all of the story can be read here :)

crusade

But in answer to the question does a Muslim have to kill an infidel the answer is very definitely no!

They do however believe that martyrdom brings them a favored place at god’s side :( It’s the martyrdom bit that is causing the troubles at the moment…

Thankyou for your comments. I've read some more sites and understand the subject bit more. We have now finished that homework and now its English and maths!!

Hi Peter,
:) Now if my History teacher had explained it like that, I might have paid closer attention.

Regards,
John
