Hi Guys,
I want to connect my kenwood double din unit to my CLK320 2003 W209 Pre Facelift.

The connection on my Kenwood unit uses the standard colors which are:

1- Yellow (Battery)
2- Red (Switched - Although this is yellow on some cars)
3- Black (Earth)
4- Blue (Aerial)
5- Orange (Illumination)

These colors are standard and more or less the same in any car that I have had in the past both Japanese and German.

BUT, apart from the BROWN which is Earth in my CLK and the RED with Blue line which is Battery I don't know what the other 3 are or how to identify them. They are all dark greenish/balckish with no identification so I need your help! Please.

Does anyone have a definition of color is the CLK? I believe this is identical with C class too!?

I thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers :)

Andy

I have an update!

To Make it easier I took out the stereo again and looked at the wires.

The ones that I can not Identify are: 1 x Yellow Wire with Black Stripe and then 2 x Green Wires with Black Stripe so if you know what these are I would appreciate your help.

Cheers

Andy

Not too sure, but I'm pretty sure these cars use CAN bus, which means you're better off buying an adaptor, so you get Merc-ADAPTOR-ISO socket.

From working on Vauxhall's and many other CAN enabled factory unit's/swaps, there wont be an Ignition feed (Switched), this is provided through the CAN signal.

But best person to ask would be Alfie, he's the merc auto-electric guru.

I know yellow black being the mute which I can leave alone as the headunit has its own mute wiring which comes with the bluetooth car kit.

Wires I have on my ISO are:

Power (I know this one-Red with Blue Stripe)

Ignition (I can get this from an ignition wire in the car or lighter etc.)

Ground (This one is clear-Brown Wire)

Arial (I can leave this unconnected as CLK doesn't have a powered Aerial)

Green ones I can leave alone I am thinking as I doubt they do anything!

BUT Illumination (Where does this relate to in the car wiring?
