Not an MB thread but ....

SWMBO fancied chipping in her car for another. Current ride os a 61 plate VW Polo 1.4 Match with 12k miles. Basically it her work taxi as any other journey is made in my car.

She really fancied the Fiat 500S. Nice wee car and ticked all the boxes. Well spec'd with a few optional extras that she wanted.

Anyways .... back the reason I am posting - trade-in values.

One dealer we visited used Glass's Guide and offered £6500 for her car. We walked away.

Both Parkers and WBAC were looking at mid 7.5s.

Another uses CAP - we were offered just under £7900. Fiat 500S bought after another wee bit of haggling ;)

It pays to shop around - and ask what mechanism the dealership uses for their valuation.

From a old post of mine

The part ex quotes for my c63 ranged from £35k to £44k against a new c63 bs, so yes one should shop around.

A trader once joked with me that they bought cars using Glasses and sold using CAP !!! Added margin ....
