For a short while anyway...

Got the C36 back up and running this afternoon and took it for a little run. :D

The result? When the Vanos kicks in, it flies!!!! :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

Pulled up to check that everything was ok, turned the engine off. Popped the bonnet and everything looked fine, so I thought I'd take it for another little blast before we start changing the oils and filters etc tomorrow.

Turned the key and set off, ten seconds later the car cut out, even though there's fresh petrol in it. The wiring loom repair is working fine, but we are going to investigate more tomorrow.

Just that two minutes of driving her has given me a grin as big as a Cheshire cat! :D :D :D

I must also say a big thank you to Simon (carat 3.6 AMG) whose knowledge also contributed to getting the car back up and running.

This really is a great forum and there are some good natured people on here and long may it all continue.

Glad she's up and running.:thumb:

So when are you building the carlsson c37 replica? :D

I've been told of a Brabus W202(were they 3.8?) that might be for sale, so along with the C43/C55 or G55 conversion idea, I've got plenty of irons in the fire.

Thanks again pal, it was much appreciated. :thumb:

It's a good job that I like you John, people have seen the hairy side of my palm for less. :D

One was simply being one of those good natured forum people - you should see me in a bad mood.

Don't forget to keep a photo update of progress.

Excellent!! It's a great feeling isn't it.

How was the loom repair? Straight forward? I've not done one before.

If the car hasn't run for a while check the fuel pressure. 4 bar when ignition on position 2.

If not used the FP can be problematic.

Also check the loom to the CPS.

Thanks, it's a massive relief that we got the timing right.

The loom repair was straight forward, my indie has a steadier hand than a surgeon with the delicate handed stuff.

The CPS is first on our list tomorrow, that's what the problems point to.

I should have really taken a photo of the dash when the engine was running...

The auction ^^ has another hour to go John.

It'll be interesting to see how much the C36 in TJ's link sells for because once my car is mint, I'll be selling it to fund a C43-C55 conversion.

That's if I don't fall in love with the C36 once she's in fine fettle...

Cheap and in good nick :)
