The dealers had replaced the seals. I've had a closer look at them in the rare sunshine. The reason I thought they hadn't replaced them is the seals on the body side are still the same (my silicon grease is in there). It doesn't mention the body frame seals. Anyway the car is finally fixed. The looseness of door frame doesn't seem to be there now and the loud rattling has defo gone (it was the shelf inside the glove box whih they have felted around the joints).

I was very emotional about these rattles and Lexus have been helpful. They can't do enough and that's why I was gutted when I thought they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes. In fact a few months ago I put a deep scratch in a piece of walnut surround where the window switch is and they replaced it free.

I'll not be so hasty in future and am happy my car is finally rattle free.

:o

Still, we all make mistakes, as the Dalek said as he climbed off the dustbin!

Well good for you for putting your hands up.
The service at Lexus does seem to be very good. I had a GS300 for a while - I only went to the dealer once but the experience was so different - almost OTT in fact. Shame the car drove so awfully - tramlined really badly even though it only had std 17" wheels - could not stand it even with new tyres on.

Lexus' good service is legendary. Dropped accessories for me at home when I couldn't pick them up from the dealership and changed 4 new alloys 3 months after the car ran out of warranty. And then I bought a Mercedes. Love the car, shame about the Stealership. Going through some warranty issues at the moment but they appear helpful. Pick up the car back in a week. Watch this space.

What the heck are you on about man? What seals? Where? Your sentances don't even make sense! Either I'm wrong or my crystal ball is malfuntioning:confused:

Don't you mean sentences? The seals were clubbed by Eskimo hunters. They were sentenced to have their crystal balls smashed.

Does that shed any light on the subject?

Must reduce my medication !

Ha ha to all the below posts :D

Regards comments on GS300 poor experience I had a GS300 Sport Mk2 and I hated it but the dealers were great. Kept giving me freebies. That was Lexus Sheffield. Sold it it after 14 months - not their fault just suspension far too hard. Should have spent longer test driving it.

My car is still rattle free !

Aren't they used by Lotus?

Very possibly!;)

We all know Lotus is supposed to stand for Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious, but my son, who worked at Lotus Sport for a little while, corrected me. He says it's Lots Of To$$ers Using Spanners:devil:

Is the IS much better to drive than the GS then? My experience with the GS has put me off Lexus altogether, which is a shame.
